mRisk was developed for McKinsey & Co. to give subscribers a centralized location for up-to-the-minute information concerning the insurance industry. The website is used to pull each article, in XML format, from Factiva servers. Once the XML documents are obtained, each one is parsed and inserted in the Oracle 8i database for later retrieval. The data saved is everything that pertains to the article, except for the main body of the article, itself. This data is then served to the subscriber in the form of a headline, which is a link to the main body content. Once the subscriber selects an article by clicking on the link, mRisk goes to the Factiva content servers that supply the main body of the article, “scrapes” the full body content, and displays it to the subscriber on the mRisk website.
